‘Teen partially blinded in acid attack at party’

One witness, who did not want to be named, said: “Everyone was dancing when there was a really strong smell and someone started screaming.

“This boy was clutching his eye and ran outside. It seemed like ammonia had been thrown in his face but nobody saw who did it.

“It didn’t seem too bad at the time as the boy then went back into the party and carried on dancing until the police turned up.”

Police spokesman Lesley Miller said: “Police are investigating reports of an assault on a teenager at a party in Thornden Wood Road, Herne Bay, in the early hours of May 6.

“The victim sustained serious injuries to one eye after liquid, believed to be ammonia, was squirted in his face.”

A 15-year-old boy from Herne Bay was arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until Friday pending further inquiries.
