‘Mumbai estate agent blinded after builders allegedly throw acid in his eyes’

Mr Verma, 47, says he was called to a place on the pretext of striking a business deal on Monday evening while returning home and was kidnapped by five people. He says the kidnappers beat him up and acid was thrown into his eyes.
He also says the documents he was carrying were taken from him along with his mobile phone and a ring.
Mr Verma was left on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway where he was found on the morning of 19th June. In his statement to the police he alleges the attack was carried out by three builders.
Mr Verma has been admitted to a hospital in suburban Borivali.
It is suspected a property dispute was behind the attack.
