Further Surgery Needed for ‘Invincible’ Baby Durjoy

It is now just over four and a half years since Baby Durjoy had his life threatened by a vicious attack when strong corrosive acid was poured forcibly into his mouth. The Acid Survivors Foundation of Bangladesh made a number of complex, life-saving operations possible and he has grown into a remarkable, irrepressible little boy – still not five years old. His name means ‘invincible’ and he is living up to it.

It was recognised early that, once over the first medical hurdles, he would require further procedures as he grew. It is important now that the next stage of reconstruction of his previously completely obliterated mouth and severely scarred lower face and neck be undertaken soon as he is struggling to take in sufficient food and drink to keep up fully with his increasing nutritional needs for growth. This means another period of care under the expert surgical care of Professor Andrew Burd at the Prince of Wales, University Hospital, Hong Kong, who has done so much to turn this little life around already.

So we are inviting you to give generously to enable the next phase to begin as soon as possible. As he continues to be cared for lovingly by his dedicated parents and supported by ASF Bangladesh, he needs your help again.
Through ASTI, you can make the next phase happen.
