‘Acid attacks: SC directs Centre to convene meeting of states’

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has ordered Union home secretary to convene a meeting of all the chief secretaries of states and UTs in 6 weeks to discuss framing of appropriate laws to protect victims of acid attacks.

The apex court said the states must also create funds to compensate the acid attack victim if the offender is not able to pay.’
